PSD2: More security for your online purchases
How will this new security be applied when making a purchase?
At the moment when you shop online at businesses that use a secure payment system, we validate your identity by asking you to enter a 6-digit code sent to your mobile device at the time of making the purchase. For businesses that do not use this secure payment system, you are able to make purchases without this code.
With the new regulations, by the end of 2020, all electronic businesses operating in Europe will have to use the secure electronic payment system.
This means we will validate your identity for most online purchases that you make from your computer or mobile device. The validation will no longer be carried out by entering the 6-digit code. Rather, you will have to confirm your purchase via the CaixaBankNow app using a trusted mobile device.
How to make your mobile a trusted device?
The first time you access the CaixaBankNow app from a mobile device, we will ask you to validate your identity with a code we will send to your phone or with the CaixaBank Sign application if you have downloaded it.
When will I start validating my purchases with the CaixaBankNow app?
This change will begin to take effect from summer 2020, so it is important that you have downloaded the CaixaBankNow application and have notifications activated. Download the CaixaBankNow app here
Although the process will be simple, we will provide tutorials on how to carry out the new validation process when you make a purchase.
- If you lose your mobile device, call the CaixaBankNow customer service helpline 24 hours a day at 93 887 25 25/900 40 40 90 or +34 938 87 25 25 if you are abroad, and we will block your CaixaBankNow ID.
- It is essential that your mobile phone number and email address are up to date. These are the means by which we will communicate with you in the event that we detect any incident that may affect your security. To update your personal details, go to CaixabankNow, in Settings (top right) > Change my personal details > Change telephone numbers or Change email address.
- And remember, if you notice a suspicious transaction on any of your cards, you can limit the functions of your cards yourself, limiting withdrawals at ATMs or online purchases and temporarily blocking your cards quickly and easily. Click here for more information on this process.
